ICIS: Asia Pacific will become the growth engine of rubber additives

According to a report released by ICIS recently, in the medium and long term, the Asia-Pacific region will become the core growth engine of the global rubber chemicals market. The core support comes from the expansion of automobile production capacity in major regional economies, the expansion of tire manufacturing scale, and the strong demand for downstream industrial rubber products. China, India, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia account for the vast majority of consumption in the region.

Forecast data show that by 2032, the annual compound development rate of global rubber and rubber additives will be 5% ~ 6.3, and over 60% of the new consumption will be contributed by the Asia-Pacific region, and the leading position of the Asia-Pacific region in the global manufacturing chain will be stable to a long time.

According to ICIS, India is the single market with the most prominent development rate in the region. The Indian government's manufacturing policy to support the automobile manufacturing sector, the increase in the number of private cars to residents and the landing of infrastructure projects have driven the country's tire sector to an average annual development rate of 8.3 per cent. Apollo tires, JK tires, Sit tires and other regional head companies continue to build new production lines, to rubber additives to bring stable incremental demand. Southeast Asian countries have unique raw material advantages, such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia is the world's main natural rubber producing areas and exporting countries, these countries can provide regional rubber companies with integrated upstream raw material protection. Jinhu Petrochemical, Sinopec and other multinational and regional leading companies have laid out extensive production bases in this cost-advantageous area, which not only supply the regional market, however also radiate exports to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Tires are the largest downstream consumption area, accounting to 2/3 of the total consumption of rubber additives; non-tire areas also maintained steady development: automotive seals, hoses, shock-absorbing parts, building damping supports, manufacturing conveyor belts and other items, all rely on functional rubber additives to enhance aging resistance, heat resistance and processing methodology.
