According to market news on August 3, there have been changes in the operating status of domestic styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer and neopentyl glycol core production facilities, and supply-side changes are receiving market attention.

Dushanzi Petrochemical, a subsidiary of PetroChina, is located in Karamay, Xinjiang, and is a key domestic synthetic rubber production base. The company owns an 80,000 tons/year SBS unit with a total of three production lines; the latest operational status shows that the first line is shut down to maintenance, while the second line maintains healthy production. Relying on the raw material advantages of the northwest petrochemical sector, Dushanzi Petrochemical's SBS items are broadly applied in modified asphalt, footwear materials, adhesives, and other fields, making it one of the core suppliers in the domestic SBS market.

Huizhou LCY Rubber Co., Ltd. is a wholly foreign-owned enterprise under the LCY Group, located in the Huizhou Dayawan Petrochemical Zone, possessing a capacity of 400,000 tons/year of SBC (styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer), equipped with four production lines. The current production schedule is stable, with three lines producing SBS and one line producing the high-end hydrogenated product SEBS. LCY is a leading global SBC producer with a complete range of SBS and SEBS categories; its items cover footwear materials, plastic modification, high-end adhesives, medical materials, and other fields, with a prominent supply affect in the domestic South China market.

Regarding neopentyl glycol, Lihuayi Shenjian Chemical Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established by Lihuayi Group and Shenjian Shares, located in Dongying, Shandong, owning a 30,000 tons/year neopentyl glycol production unit. Currently, this unit remains shut down, and the company has no clear restart plan at present. Neopentyl glycol is a core raw material to powder coating products polyester resins, and the prolonged shutdown of the unit continues to affect the circulation volume of domestic NPG spot goods.

Market analysts indicate that the maintenance of SBS enterprise facilities, differentiated production scheduling, and the shutdown of neopentyl glycol units will continue to affect the spot supply rhythm of these two types of chemical items. It is necessary to continue tracking enterprise resumption, raw material costs, and downstream demand changes.
