Team Bharat said on Monday that it has been invited by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) for a follow-up meeting within the next 3-4 days to continue discussions on key issues concerning consumer choice, fuel pricing, and the implementation of the Ethanol 20 (E20) fuel policy.
Team Bharat, which is led by political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla, is protesting against what it claims is a rushed implementation of the ethanol blended petrol (EBP) programme under which 20 per cent ethanol is blended with 80 per cent petrol.
The invitation follows the detailed discussions held during Team Bharat’s recent interaction with senior officials of the Ministry and reflects a continued commitment to constructive engagement between policymakers and citizens, it added.
“Team Bharat sincerely thanks (Oil) Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to his willingness to engage with us and to taking the concerns of ordinary citizens seriously. His decision to invite Team Bharat to another round of discussions demonstrates a constructive and solution-oriented approach towards addressing the issues raised by consumers across the country,” the outfit said.
During the upcoming meeting, Team Bharat will continue to present the concerns received from vehicle owners and consumers while reiterating its key recommendations relating to consumer choice, affordability, transparency and the practical implementation of the E20 policy, it added.
Team Bharat believes that meaningful general policy is strengthened through continuous dialogue, evidence-based discussions and active citizen participation.
The organisation welcomed the Ministry’s openness in maintaining a channel of communication and appreciate the assurance that concerns raised by citizens will continue to be heard and examined, it said.
While this invitation is an encouraging measure forward, Team Bharat considers it the continuation of an ongoing dialogue rather than its summary. Our focus remains on working constructively with the Government while ensuring that the interests of consumers remain central to the discussion, it added.
“We remain hopeful that these continued engagements will lead to practical, balanced and consumer-centric solutions that support both India’s prolonged energy objectives and the rights of millions of vehicle owners,” the outfit said.
Team Bharat remains committed to representing the voice of ordinary citizens with responsibility, sincerity and a spirit of constructive cooperation, it added.
