Petrobras has awarded Strohm and its Brazilian subsidiary Strohm Brasil a contract to supply thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) for Brazil’s post-salt offshore cluster.
The agreement covers TCP qualification testing, engineering, field services and support to offshore trials and installation.
The methodology will be deployed to aquatic environments injection and gaseous lift applications at depths of up to 1,500 metres.
Petrobras will assess the TCP under real operating conditions, including its handling and installation using vessels from its fleet.
Made from fibre and polymer materials, TCP is lighter, spoolable and non-corrosive compared with conventional flexible and rigid pipelines.
The methodology is designed to provide prolonged reliability, simplified handling and installation, while enabling pipeline integrity inspections without associated maintenance costs.
