The focus of the appearance is a new gear pump for hard PVC, a continuous granulator for frequent product changes and an optical offline test system.

With the gear pump "extrex⁶ EC", Maag is showing a research to the continuous promotion of hard PVC. The thermally vulnerable material tends to deposit and decomposition at longer residence times. A gap-free construction without dead spaces is intended to prevent material from sticking or remaining in the pump.

Depending on the consumption, the throughput can be increased or the energy requirement of the extruder can be reduced with the same throughput. In addition, the pump enables a reduce thermal load on the melt, which can decrease the need to stabilizers. According to Maag, the system has been tested in a multi-year research cooperation with Rehau and has already been installed in a Spanish Rehau plant.

Maag also exhibits the strand granulator "Primo 60 E" to the production of masterbatches, compounds and special polymers. The machine is designed to smaller batches, changing material characteristics and frequent product changes. Good accessibility, quick cleaning and short tool change times should decrease downtime between production runs.

The trade fair program is supplemented by the offline test system "Purity Concept V" from Sikora. The camera-based system analyzes granules, flakes and test plates to contamination and discoloration. According to the manufacturer, it recognizes black or colored particles from 50 µm. The test takes less than one minute; as a result, the system creates a test certificate and an HSV color map of the observed deviations.
