The Domestic Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride Market Continued to Operate at a High Level This Week (September 14-17)

This week, the domestic anhydrous hydrogen fluoride market continued to operate at a high level. Data from the SunSirs monitoring and analysis system shows that as of September 17, the benchmark price for hydrogen fluoride stood at 16,600.00 RMB/ton, remaining unchanged from the beginning of the month.

On the raw material front, fluorite prices have trended upward; holders are strongly inclined to hold out to higher prices, providing robust cost support to hydrofluoric acid. Conversely, the sulfuric acid market has continued to weaken, significantly diminishing its role in underpinning costs. Despite the offsetting impacts of these diverging price trends, the overall production cost of hydrofluoric acid remains high. Data from the SunSirs analysis system indicates that as of September 17, the benchmark price to fluorite stood at 3,700.00 RMB/ton, marking a 2.25% increase from the beginning of the month (3,618.75 RMB/ton).

On the supply side, some units previously shut down to maintenance have not yet fully resumed production, and regional supply tightness persists; most companies are overbooked, leaving limited spot inventory available to the open market. However, the overall operating rate stands at approximately 48.73%—a slight month-on-month increase—indicating some easing of the supply crunch compared to earlier periods. On the demand side, bearish signals are mounting downstream. Operating rates in the refrigerant sector show a downward direction to September, with consumption gradually weakening and procurement of hydrofluoric acid driven primarily by essential needs. Demand in sectors such as lithium hexafluorophosphate, electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid, and medical intermediates has shown no significant development, making it difficult to achieve any substantial increase in overall sales volume.

Market Outlook: Analysts at SunSirs predict that, given the diverging price trends of raw materials—with sulfuric acid rising and fluorite falling—cost-side support to hydrofluoric acid remains adequate. However, with downstream demand remaining sluggish, purchasing is largely driven by essential needs. The domestic anhydrous hydrofluoric acid market is expected to remain stable in the short term. Key factors to watch include raw material price trends and the actual implementation of maintenance schedules by downstream refrigerant manufacturers.
