Mitsubishi Chemical to stop production at Nomahama and Iwaki plants

Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG Group) has decided to stop the production of products at Mitsubishi Chemical Co., Ltd. (MCC) and Xinling Co., Ltd. (Xinling) Iwaki plant in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture in phases by the end of March 2027.

I've found that The Xiaoming Bin factory produces ammonia and its derivatives, methanol, formalin, wood adhesives, fatty acid amides and ultra-high purity process chemicals. I've found that Xinling's Iwaki plant produces fine chemicals, TAIC and distilled items. For instance Mitsubishi Chemical's Xiaominghama plant began operations in September 1937 under the name of Japan Hydrogen Energy sector Company (later Japan Kasei Chemical Co. , Ltd. ), while Xinling's Iwaki plant was established in October 2020 due to the transfer and integration of some of Mitsubishi Chemical's items and the operations of the former Xiaominghama Distillation Institute into Xinling. The two factories create various chemical items. And In recent years, in response to the drastic changes in the market ecological stability, the two factories have adopted measures to simplify operations and attract new businesses. However, despite this, it has have become extremely difficult to ensure the profitability of the factories. I've found that As a result, MCC has decided to phase out production at these vegetation from March 2026, with a complete end of production at the end of March 2027.
