Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company Joins Hands to Build a Large Chemical Fertilizer Plant Project in Turkmenistan

Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company signed a framework agreement with Turkmenistan on a fertilizer plant. The project is located in Abat, Turkmenistan, with an annual production capacity of 350000 tons of phosphate fertilizer and 100000 tons of ammonium sulfate, marking an important progress in Daewoo's strategic layout in the Central Asian market.

Daewoo Engineering & Construction Company (Daewoo E & C) recently announced the formal signing of a framework agreement on the construction of a fertilizer plant with Turkmenistan's state chemical company, Turkmen Chemical Company. This important collaboration, reached at a signing ceremony in Seoul, marks a key step in the finalization of the project contract since Daewoo was selected as the preferred bidder in October 2023.

At the signing ceremony of the, Kim Haoxian, CEO of Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company, Dolangli Sapbayev, Chairman of Turkmenhimia Company, and senior government officials of the two countries witnessed this historical moment. South Korea Industry Minister Andegen and Turkmenistan counterpart Bajmir Anamamedov also attended the event. It is worth mentioning that the Turkmen delegation led by Anamamedov visited South Korea since Wednesday, during which they visited Daewoo Engineering's key infrastructure projects in South Korea, including the energy terminal at the Port of Ulsan North and the Gaioga Bridge, to gain insight into the company's outstanding capabilities in complex engineering fields such as petrochemical plants and immersed tube tunnel construction.

According to the agreement, the fertilizer plant will be located in Abat, Turkmenistan, the second largest city in Turkmenistan, about 450 kilometers from the capital Ashgabat. The planned annual production capacity of the project is 350,000 tons of phosphate fertilizer and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate, and supporting the construction of related infrastructure. As a strategic location in Central Asia, Turkmenistan shows great growth potential in the fields of petrochemicals, infrastructure and new city development.
