Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Azahi announced that due to the conflict in the Middle East, Malaysia will officially put into production B15 biodiesel containing 15% palm oil from June this year to stabilize diesel prices.

Policy upgrading and implementation planning

The Malaysian government announced last month that it would upgrade the current B10 biodiesel standard with a blending ratio of 10% to 15%, and put it into production with a blending ratio of 12% as a transition. Nineteen biodiesel production plants across the country will fully produce B15 biodiesel from June 1. The palm oil biodiesel blending ratio will be increased in stages, and it is planned to gradually increase to 20% blending ratio in the next two to three years, and more likely to increase to 50% in the future.

Industry background and impact

Malaysia is the world's second largest producer of palm oil. At present, B10 standard is generally implemented in the transportation field. Labuan, Langkawi and Sarawak (except Bintulu Town) have already implemented a 20% biodiesel blending ratio. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board said that after the policy upgrade, the country's annual consumption of biodiesel will increase by more than 300000 tons.
