As the first core device of the project to be put into operation, this node marks that the HPPO project has officially entered the trial production stage from the engineering construction stage.
Project background and industrial chain layout
the HPPO project is a key sub-project of the third phase of China Huayi Group's Guangxi Qinzhou base, using the HPPO process route (hydrogen peroxide direct oxidation of propylene oxide to propylene oxide) to build a complete integrated industrial chain from hydrogen peroxide to polyether polyols. The scale of each core unit is as follows: hydrogen peroxide 300000 tons/year, propylene oxide (PO) 300000 tons/year, polyether polyol 200000 tons/year, polymer polyol 50000 tons/year.
The above-mentioned device forms a vertical integrated layout of "hydrogen peroxide & rarr; propylene oxide & rarr; polyether/polymer polyol", with completely self-supplied raw materials, effectively suppressing the risk of external cost fluctuations, which is the core competitive advantage of the project different from most Chinese polyether manufacturers.
Driving progress: two nodes have landed one after another.
As for the hydrogen peroxide plant, the 300000-ton/year hydrogen peroxide plant owned by Guangxi Huayi Chlor-Alkali Company has been completed in January 2026 and transferred to the production preparation stage. As the source device of the whole process chain, its readiness lays the foundation for subsequent joint production.
In terms of polyether plant, the first start-up successfully verified the quality of engineering construction and the technical capability of the commissioning team, providing an important reference for the subsequent start-up of propylene oxide and polymer polyol plant.
Potential Impact on Polyether Polyols Market
200000 tons/year polyether polyol with 50000 tons/year polymer polyol, a total of 250000 tons/year of production capacity in China belongs to the head scale. With the gradual climbing of production capacity, it is expected to form a substantial disturbance to the supply pattern of polyether polyols in South China and even the whole country, and relevant traders need to pay attention to regional price trends in advance.
