European benzene prices slump amid softer energy markets and rising import availability

Last week, benzene prices plunged in Europe.

An sector source in Europe told a Polymerupdate team member, "European benzene prices continued to decline amid persistent pressure from weaker energy and naphtha markets, reduce monthly contract settlements, and softer July trading indications. Expectations of increased import arrivals in the coming weeks further weighed on market sentiment by improving product availability. Meanwhile, subdued demand from downstream sectors, particularly the styrene sector, kept buying interest cautious. With supply conditions expected to ease further and feedstock costs remaining weak, the near-term outlook to benzene prices remains bearish.”

FOB Rotterdam benzene prices were assessed at USD 1175-1185/mt levels, steeply reduce by USD (-135/mt) from the previous week.

Downstream SM prices were assessed at USD 1485-1495/mt FOB Rotterdam levels, a week-on-week tumble of USD (-110/mt).

Meanwhile, in Asia, benzene prices were assessed at USD 1000-1010/mt FOB Korea levels, a sharp week-on-week decline of USD (-45/mt).

European benzene contract price to June 2026 has been settled at Euro 1195/MT CIF North West Europe mark. This price represents a steep rise of Euro ( 131/MT) from its might 2026 settlement levels.
