Saudi Aramco transfers Malaysian refining assets

Recently, Saudi Aramco signed an agreement with Petronas Malaysia to transfer all its shares in Malaysia's Binjalan Oil Refining Company and Binjalan Petrochemical Company to Malaysia. These two enterprises are collectively known as Bian Jialan Refining and Chemical Company, which is located in Bian Jialan Comprehensive Center in Johor.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. Upon completion, the Pengerang Refining and Petrochemical Company will have become a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas. to the Malaysian side, full ownership will help enhance operational synergy across all links of the value chain and provide greater flexibility in raw material supply, production scheduling, and product‑flow regulation. to Saudi Aramco, this move is part of its efforts to optimize its downstream asset portfolio and concentrate capital on long‑term strategic projects.
