Aarti Drugs receives closure order for amines plant

Share:

Aarti Drugs Ltd. has received a 15‑day closure order from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) for its Saykha Amines plant, citing environmental non‑compliance under the Water Act. The directive, issued on July 18, 2026, requires the company to either rectify issues or halt operations. Other manufacturing units remain fully operational, and corrective measures are underway.

The methyl amines unit – a backward integration project to the diabetes drug, Metformin – has been scaled to ~1,000-tpm by March 2026. Any prolonged shutdown might pressure margins by forcing reliance on costlier external raw materials.
