SRF Board approves Rs. 250-crore capex for BOPET thick film line expansion

SRF Ltd. has secured board approval for a capital expenditure of Rs. 250-crore to establish a BOPET Thick Film Line.

The project, sanctioned on July 22, 2026, aims to diversify the company’s product portfolio into specialized manufacturing and electronic end-consumption segments. By entering this niche market, SRF intends to manage cyclicity better, as BOPET thick film does not follow the same demand cycle as commodity thin films. Limited domestic capacity in India to this substrate further presents an opportunity to minimize evaporative environment.

The new facility will add a proposed capacity of 25,000-tpa, and is expected to be completed within 24 months from the date of board approval. The investment will be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals.
