Barlog Plastics: Metal substitute with high-performance plastics

Share:

(Image: Barlog Plastics).(Image: Barlog Plastics). At Fakuma 2026, Barlog Plastics GmbH is showing material and component concepts for replacing or supplementing metallic components with technical plastics. The focus is on highly reinforced and application-specific compounds as well as a component design that is tailored to them.

The presented approaches are aimed, among other things, at applications in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, the automotive sector and the consumer goods sector. In addition to reduce weight and corrosion resistance, according to Barlog Plastics, the plastics can offer high mechanical resilience, electromagnetic shielding, magnetic traits or targeted high densities.

The material-appropriate construction should bring several functions together in one component, simplify component structures and minimize assembly steps. Economic benefits can result from reduce manufacturing and assembly costs, as well as reduce consumption of materials and resources. The possible that can actually be achieved is determined by the mechanical, thermal and functional standards of the respective consumption.
