Arkema: Special polyamides for lightweight construction, transparent applications and recycling

Share:

Arkema will present new applications and material solutions from the field of special polyamides at Fakuma 2026. The focus is on materials for mobility, data centers, consumer electronics, consumer products and industrial applications. The company focuses on lightweight construction, metal substitutes, transparent applications, electrification and the use of bio-based and recycled plastics.

Metal replacement and transparent polyamides

to metal substitution, Arkema is showcasing high-performance specialty polyamides designed to components with demanding mechanical standards, intended to enable weight reduction compared to metallic structures. Another key focus is on BPA-free transparent polyamides from the "Rilsan Clear" product family. They are intended, among other things, to applications involving food contact and are positioned as an alternative to conventional transparent polycarbonate.

Materials to Mobility and Electrification

In the mobility sector, the portfolio encompasses solutions to vehicle electrification, lightweight construction, and fluid regulation, as well as other applications in future transportation concepts. In addition, Arkema is showcasing recycled and certified long-chain polyamides. According to the company, this offering comprises greater than 25 material references.

Portfolio of specialty polyamides and elastomers

The materials portfolio includes, among others, the 100% bio-based polyamide 11 "Rilsan PA11", the polyamide 12 "Rilsamide PA12", the transparent polyamides "Rilsan Clear", PPA types under the name "Rilsan HT", thermoplastic elastomers of the "Pebax" series as well as copolyamides under the "Platamide" brand. The bio-based specialty polyamides are based, among other things, on castor oil as a renewable raw material.

With its “Virtucycle” recycling program, Arkema also addresses the collection and recycling of high-performance thermoplastics.
