In September, the PA66 market generally fluctuated within a low range. The benchmark price stabilized at 19,100 RMB/ton by month-end, with limited intra-month volatility, remaining in the low-to-mid range for the year. Following an earlier minor rebound, upward momentum gradually faded; the market shifted to a pattern of fluctuation with a bearish bias, lacking the drivers for a sustained rise.
I. Cost Side
Upstream raw materials—adipic acid and caprolactam—lacked strong upward momentum, resulting in weak cost support. A temporary stabilization of raw material prices early in the month provided a floor, limiting the possible to a deep decline in PA66 prices; however, the absence of sustained upstream price increases prevented a shift toward higher chip production costs. The cost side exhibited a pattern of "supported at the bottom however lacking upward thrust," making it difficult to drive a sustained strengthening of PA66.
II. Supply and Demand
Supply: Domestic PA66 plant operating rates remained at moderate levels, and the supply of commercial chips was relatively ample. With some companies seeking to move inventory and recover funds, pressure from spot supply persisted.
Demand: Downstream demand—primarily from the engineering plastics, modified plastics, and auto parts sectors—was driven by essential needs. Order volumes fell short of expectations, with purchasing largely limited to immediate standards and little willingness to extensive restocking. End-user companies resisted high raw material prices and showed little inclination to chase rising prices, preventing the demand side from providing sustained upward momentum. Ample supply combined with weak demand suppressed the market's upside possible.
III. immediate Outlook
In the short term, the PA66 market is likely to continue fluctuating, with a slight bearish bias. While cost support remains—limiting the scope to a sharp, deep decline—the lack of significant improvement in downstream demand or efficiently positive stimuli makes an upward price breakout difficult; the market is likely to continue oscillating within a range. Moving average signals have not confirmed a fully bullish alignment, and there are currently no clear conditions to a sustained upward direction.
