(Image: Barlog Plastics)(Image: Barlog Plastics) Barlog Plastics GmbH will present solutions for rapid tooling, prototyping and the development of customer-specific materials at Fakuma 2026. The company shows there how plastic components can be tested under near-series conditions and manufactured up to small series production.
Rapid tooling creates injection molding tools based on 3D CAD data. They are applied to create prototypes, pre-series and small series. According to Barlog Plastics, almost all commercially available thermoplastics can be processed. In contrast to processes in which only visual or functional models are created, developers can thus test components made of the intended series material and under typical injection molding conditions.
The early testing should, among other things, provide insights into the material behavior, component geometry and processability. Constructive changes can thus be taken into account before the design of a serial tool. The aim is to minimize research risks and iteration costs and to shorten the transition to series production.
Under the "protosys" business unit, Barlog Plastics bundles prototype and small series production with its own toolmaking and injection molding methodology. In addition, the company offers material selection, component design and CAE simulations. In addition to conventional injection molding, the processing spectrum also includes multi-component, fluid silicone and magnetic injection molding.
Barlog Plastics wants to cover research steps from material selection and simulation to tool construction to production within a continuous process chain. Data and experiences from the prototype phase can be immediately incorporated into the design of the later series production.
