On September 18, 2026, Asian Paints, India's leading paint enterprise, announced that its vinyl acetate-ethylene emulsion (VAE) production plant located in Dahej, Gujarat, officially went into operation, with a designed production capacity of 150,000 tons per year.

This plant is a core project of Asian Paints' backward integration strategy to raw materials. The produced VAE emulsion will first be supplied to the internal paint production lines of the group, strengthening the independent guarantee capability of core paint raw materials and reducing risks brought by fluctuations in the external supply chain.

The supporting vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant and ethylene storage and transportation facilities in the same factory area are still under construction. Market analysis pointed out that this VAE production capacity is expected to gradually ramp up and discharge within the next 2–2.5 years, and is expected to bring a gross profit margin increase of 300–500 basis points to the company's related product portfolio in the long run. VAE is an ecological stability-friendly emulsion raw material, which is mostly applied in the field of aqueous coatings.
