Recently, the British renewable hydrogen producer Yamna announced that it has obtained the approval of the government of Andhra Pradesh, India, to build a large-scale renewable ammonia project in two phases, with a total target capacity of 1 million tons/year. The first production capacity is 500000 tons/year, and the capital expenditure is expected to be about 1 billion US dollars.
At present, the cabinet of Andhra Pradesh has formally approved the first phase of the project and agreed to allocate the required land to support the construction of export-oriented clean energy infrastructure. "The approval of the Andhra Pradesh environmentally friendly Ammonia Project is an crucial measure to Yamna to build a diversified global portfolio of clean energy assets," said Yamna CEO Abdulaziz Yatbiri." The project will enjoy a number of incentives and support under the thorough clean energy policy of Andhra Pradesh, including capital subsidies, tax incentives and grid access support. Yamna signed a memorandum of understanding with Andhra Pradesh on the renewable ammonia project in August 2025.
